Mitsubishi Electric Set to Expand Industrial Automation to the Philippines

This move will help to establish the industrial automation business in the country to $30 million by the ending of the fiscal year; March 31, 2026.

If you thought the AC Servo and Motion Control Unit was all they had to offer for the first half of this year, you were definitely wrong as their new company being established in the Philippines would swing into full operation from June 2019.

On the 11th of March, 2019, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced their plans concerning the establishment of a new company, MELCO Factory Automation Philippines Inc. (MELAP). This new establishment in Philippines will work to expand Mitsubishi Electric’s factory automation (FA) business in the country, a business which is already growing.

This shows great effort by the company in terms of becoming more as the launching of full operations in the Philippines will occur in June, right after the launch of the series of servo system in May.

The new factory, MELAP will be established by the joint efforts of Setsuyo Astec Corporation (STC), Mitsubishi Electric and Integrated Factory Automation Inc. (IFA).

The Integrated Factory Automation Inc. (IFA) is a long term partner for Mitsubishi in Philippines, as well as a FA product distributor. The new company will be focused on providing technical and sales services for FA as it starts operating in the month of June this year.

Robust growth is anticipated in the Philippine industrial automation market. This is particularly expected in the food & beverages and electronics markets. It is also expected in the connection with active investment with infrastructure.

Mitsubishi Electric has been involved in the provision of technical support and sales of FA products in the food & beverages as well as the electronic industry through the help of several local distributors and one of these is the IFA.

MELAP is supposed to enhance customer satisfaction and improve Mitsubishi Electric’s local FA business. More precisely, it would enhance the technical service capacities in cooperation with Mitsubishi Electric’s global service network. It would also strengthen solutions offerings to meet IoT and automation demands.
