Another day, another VPN service on the market, right? Well, not so fast. When we first came across Buffered VPN, we were skeptical. How could they possibly compete in such an industry that requires constant innovation from the 100+ VPNs already on the market? The fact of the matter is they have done so in several ways and it is quite impressive and useful for users looking for a complete VPN package. They are based in Hungary so they aren’t subject to US jurisdiction / laws (the EU also happens to be more lenient on data retention) – more on this below. They are a new service so virtually all streaming services (Netflix US, Hulu, etc.) have not blocked their IPs as they have done with many other VPN services IPs. They also offer servers in more countries (32) than even many of the largest VPN providers. All of these, in addition to several other crucial features, have left us speechless, especially considering Buffered VPN is essentially a startup.
Let us first make note of the aforementioned fact that Buffered VPN already offers servers in 32 countries. This is simply remarkable considering they are one of the newest VPNs out there. And the crazy part? If you need a server in a specific location, just write into them and they will, in all likelihood and in true startup form, fulfill your request. Try doing that with any other VPN provider. Good luck. Aside from this, Buffered VPN offers some of the best features on the market.
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Unlimited server switches
- 100% zero logging of browser activity
- Full compatibility (Windows, Mac, Anroid, iOS, Linux, etc.)
- 5 simultaneous connections from anywhere
- 9% uptime
- 24/7 email support
- Highest security & 256-bit encryption level
- 30-day money back guarantee
- Port discovery to overcome firewalls
Buffered VPN Server Locations: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States.
For such a new service, we were thoroughly impressed with the Buffered VPN privacy procedures. For starters, they have stopped offering the inferior (and unsecure) L2TP and PPTP protocols, choosing to go with the much safer OpenVPN option. Secondly, they use shared IPs. Why is this important? In the event that they receive a taken down request, they cannot track the user. Additionally, there is absolutely zero logging of user browsing activity. Anywhere. Anytime. As mentioned in the opening part of this Buffered VPN review, they are located in Hungary and thus are not subject to US laws. In fact, the EU is much more lenient on VPN privacy laws (go figure)! Lastly, a nice little gimmick that is especially important for frequent travelers is Buffered VPN’s port discovery tool. This allows you to bypass many protected public Wi-Fi networks (hotels, café’s, etc.). Essentially speaking, the entire Buffered platform is built on complete privacy and total anonymity.
To be the best you have to structure yourself as the best. Buffered VPN offers three different pricing plans that are nestled comfortably in the tier-one VPN range. All three plans come with the same features and settings.
- Monthly Plan: $12.99/month
- Bi-Annual Plan: $9.99/month
- Yearly Plan: $8.25/month

Buffered VPN claims to offer unlimited speed. In fact, one of their main selling points is that surfing speed is virtually unaffected when using their VPN. So, did they hold up to their end of the bargain? Compared to the 100Mbps speed we have here at CloudWedge (of which we generally see between 75-85Mbps on a standard internet connection), both tests saw 67Mbps and 71Mbps while using Buffered VPN to stream Netflix. There was minimal slowdown in speed and showed no noticeable difference in speed or quality.
Ease of Use
While all VPN websites are unsurprisingly easy to use, Buffered VPN has gone over and above in order to offer superior website (and client) usability. The website is easy to navigate and is very straightforward, foreshadowing what’s to come with the actual software. Signing up was done in a few simple steps on the website itself. Once payment is complete, you can download the software in a matter of seconds. The client looks and operates like many of the other top VPN clients on the market, which is very intuitive in nature.

Customer service plays a large role in our VPN rankings. Luckily for Buffered VPN, they have passed the test, but it wasn’t easy to persuade us. They don’t offer live chat support which is something we are adamant about. This initially earned Buffered VPN a few negative points with us. However, two things worth noting are:
- Live chat will be available in the short-term future.
- Their e-mail support is undeniably the best in the VPN market. Yes, better and faster than any other VPN. They offer 24/7 email support in which you can expect to have an answer in under an hour’s time – likely a record for email response in any industry.
Furthermore, they offer a helpful FAQs section on their website that answered a few of our questions. After going through all of their support options and seeing the level of professionalism from their service reps, it became very clear that Buffered VPN has tier-one customer support.
