Geek of the Week: Paul Hooper

by CloudWedge Staff    |

It’s that time of the week again – Geek. Of. The. Week! So we’re going to jump right into it. Congratulations to Paul Hooper, CEO of Gigamon!

So, what’s the deal with Mr. Hooper and Gigamon?

For those of you who follow CloudWedge religiously, you know that we cover cyber security extensively. Even after years seeing cloud growth and improved usability, there is still a massive problem within this market: cyber security, specifically in regard to attacks aimed at an organization’s internal network.

Good news though! Gigamon has launched an intensive marketing campaign that is aimed at educating enterprises about the emerging cyber security threats that can potentially impact us all.

Gigamon has just released the GigaSECURE Security Delivery Platform to combat the most sophisticated cyber-attacks in real time. Gigamon believes that the battleground in the war for cyber security is an organization’s internal network.

More specifically, network visibility can give administrators the proper notifications they need to respond to a threat more rapidly. Gigamon says that their new GigaSECURE Security Delivery Platform can “Turn the tables” on would-be attackers. How? GigaSECURE looks at internal network threats first. GigaSECURE provides actionable intelligence upon the biggest risks inside your network. GigaSECURE also works alongside your existing security apps to help provide your organization with a rapid solution for these security blind spots.

If you were paying attention, you would have noted we mentioned that Gigamon launched an “intensive marketing campaign.” That’s exactly the background of Mr. Hooper. It was his leadership and execution that propelled Gigamon to new heights. He has over twenty years of experience in leading marketing organizations, IT and functional business units worldwide. Prior to joining Gigamon, he held various executive positions at Extreme Networks, myCFO, E-Tek Dynamics, Sun Microsystems, and Netscape Communications.

Congrats Paul!
